This then activates enzyme guanylate cyclase that results in increased levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (CGMP), which leads to smooth relaxation in corpus cavernosum, thus resulting in increased inflow of blood & erection
Sildenafil Citrate is potent & selective inhibitor of cGMP specific phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) that is responsible for degradation of cGMP in corpus cavernosum
This means that with Sildenafil Citrate of Intimax-100, normal sexual stimulation leads to increased levels of CGMP in corpus cavernosum that leads to better erections
Without sexual stimulation & no activation of NO/cGMP system, sildenafil citrate does not cause an erection
Sildenafil citrate is metabolised by hepatic enzymes & excreted by both liver and kidneys
